Fermented Community Brew for CE Week

Showcasing London’s circular economy and bringing together global leaders, practitioners and stuff revolutionaries everywhere – ReLondon is hosting its sixth circular economy showcase this 16-20 October 2023, in partnership with Visa.

In celebration of London’s Circular Economy week we are hosting a taster class of our fermented drinks workshop.

In this hour and half session you will get to taste a range of fermented drinks, have the process of fermentation laid out and together as a group create a naturally carbonated soft drink which you will then take away a bottle of.

It’s a fun snap shot and introduction session into fermentation and an excellent way to creatively divert food waste both at home and in the workplace.

Due to the nature of our space and the lesson, this class isn’t suitable for anyone with coeliacs disease or a severe gluten allergy.

We will provide small vegan & vegetarian canapes to power your learning and plenty of drinks tasters.

This a £10 session and spaces are limited, head over to our shop here to book a spot.

Find more events for Circular Economy Week over here: https://ceweek.london/event-2023/

#CEweek2023 is the leading global circular economy platform. It is a week of events hosted by ReLondon and a diverse range of organisations – in London, UK and beyond – to celebrate and share progress to a circular economy. The week highlights how cities, businesses and governments are reducing carbon emissions by innovating to reduce the impact of our consumption of stuff on global heating.

The People’s Oven & Plate

After taking a summer break, our community project, the People’s Oven is returning to the kitchen.

For those unfamiliar: the People’s Oven is community access to our warm space, equipment and oven.

After making notes and receiving feedback from our first run of sessions, we have moved the sessions to Sundays and extended the window of access to our space.

Alongside our session the counter will be open for the return of our community access meal: The People’s Plate.

Booked attendees are welcome to both a plate and to attend the session, whereas walk in guests can have a meal and pull up a stool in our warm space to watch the action.

Spaces are limited but we hope in time to be able to run this as a more regular event.

More details and ticketing to open soon. The People’s Oven is a pay what you can session, the cost of which will go towards the chef/instructor on site and a hot meal while you’re with us.

The People's Oven

Monthly from Monday 12th Dec we will be opening up our kitchen 4pm-8pm under an initiative we're calling The People's Oven.

Based on the idea of a medieval hearth, where the local community would gather to cook & bake together on co-operatively owned & run oven.

It is a pay-what-you-can access session to our bakery’s ovens, a warm calm space, a hot drink and cooking advice. Our recommended donation is £10 but without quoting a large supermarket, every little counts and we are grateful for whatever you can afford.

It's open to anyone from homebakers who want to try out their bread skills in a deck oven to people on a lower income who would like to batch cook in our ovens and save on electricity bills at home.

Bring partially prepared dishes to finish in our ovens, or if you would like to prepare here then bring all the ingredients and we can lend you the equipment.

Just make sure to bring along enough bags, boxes, dishes etc to take your food away in at the end of the evening.

Start time & finish time is flexible, come and leave whenever you like within the 4-8pm window.

Chef, baker & Hearth founder, Maisie, will be on-site to offer guidance on using the ovens and any friendly advice on what you’re making.

To book in please send us a message through the website with the date you’d like to attend or drop by the shop during opening hours.

We accept cash or card payments on the day.
